Description

Dears.
I´m music lover, avid Lp collector and audio fan. Living in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Have experienced during last 30 years different kind of equipments (basically vintage) and now I have settled one vintage speaker system for analog reproduction and one modern speaker for digital source. Basically electronics are same, with same Line Amp, I´m using two different power amps for two different speakers.
My music room is around 8ms x 10ms, the celling is -fortunately- very high, around 4.5ms. The listerning room is connected with my Lp collection. I estimate to have around 20,000 Lps. Thanks for looking my system.

    Long wood arm for Ortofon SPU A type cartridge mounted on Norma Plinth.
    • Thorens Thorens 124 MK II

The improvement was astonishing versus MK V. And finally I have modified the new subchassis with MVSS (Micro Vibration Suspension System) and 2 pcs plater. The result? MK VI 2nd Generation is far far better turntable than MK V. Much much better bass, more punch, more extention, more clarity in all freq. This is really amazing turntable. For all Oracle old turntable users, I´d like to recommend this up grade.

New improvement.
Have added Stillpoint Ultra FIve on Oracle MK V. Incredibly the original screw is same size for Stillpoint. Just replaced the original feet by Stillpoints. The improve up is amazing. Much more air and extension for high frequency.

Dear Mark.
Many many tks for your kind word and congratulation for your fabulous and meticulous equipment. It really will sound great!
Tks also for your invitation, I will try to catch some opportunity to visit. Your knowledge about Argentina food, music and culture are really surprising. And frankly speaking -with shame- I have to confess you that I ignored completely about Aznar recording of MA Record. I will check and I will try to know more about MA Recording. Tks again and if you have any plan to visit Argentina please let me know. I´d like to invite to my home to enjoy music and also good food and Malbec!!

(small correction....'asador criollo' in my original text)

Here is the performance live at the Vatican by Sosa of Misa Criolla that I was referring to;

Also,...if you do not have a copy of this recording, it is spectacular, was recorded by a master recording technician and audiophile in an old church/monastery about 150 km from Bs.As.;

The follow-up is also amazing;

Dante: Greetings! Your system and your home are spectacular and very beautiful!  I am certain you must enjoy it all very much. There are no words to describe that vinyl collection....amazing!!!

If you are ever traveling near Greenville SC, Charlotte NC or Atlanta GA, please let me know as you are always welcome here for a good listening session, we will also light the parilla, have an asado and break out the malbec and yerba mate! I will write you more with details and my family ties to Argentina.

Argentina does truly have the best beef in the world (I am a huge Asador Criolla fan!!!) and has great wines but there is also the amazing chocolate, the best helados and  the best coffee in the world (IMHO), alfajores (a personal favorite) and so many other things...TANGO as you note above, the music of Mercedes Sosa, Patricia Sosa (her performance of Misa Criolla is among the powerful of all live music!), Pedro Aznar and many other wonderful things to hear and experience. We also cannot forget great rock music from Charly Garcia, Bersuit, Soda Stereo, Sumo, and many others....and one of my all time favorite Blues groups, Memphis La Blusera!

Write me and we can talk more...thank you for posting your beautiful system and home!

Dear Russ. Many tks for your comment and I agree absolutly with you.
I moved to my actual house 2 yeras ago and I  considered to rebuild my living room eliminating the round stairs of right side. The left speaker is on the corner but the right speaker is located not at the corner and this is problem specially when cello and double bass are located at right side in many many records.
To built a extra plywood will be a solution, I made plywood cabinet for Vitavox CN-191. Many tks and congratulation for your system.

Your Tannoy loudspeakers are corner horns, which use the room corner as part of the horn.   A horn loudspeaker stops acting like a horn at a frequency where the 1/4 wavelength is at the size of the horn mouth.  A 30 hz wave has a 1/4 wavelength of about 8 feet.  A 20 hz wave has a 1/4 wavelength of 12 feet.  So for your backloaded horn to ACT as a horn down to 30 hz, it needs a horn mouth 8 feet across and the only practical way to do that is to use the room corner as part of the horn.

While your Tannoy loudspeakers do sit against the backwall, you'd also need the side wall to create the necessary horn size for true low frequency response.  As an experiment, you might try bringing in a couple sheets of plywood just to sit up against your Tannoy loudspeakers to extend the effective horn and see how it sounds.

Below the horn cutoff, the loudspeaker just acts like a direct raditator, which is much less efficient.

For everybody, who want to visit to Buenos Aires, I´d like to invite to my home to listern music. Buenos Aires is great city, we have Teatro Colon, one of amazing and best acoustic theater of the world, Tango music and dance, good food (best meat in the world) and also Malbec wine. Great country to enjoy.

Thank you for kind words, yes I too am big analog fan and rely on Allnic to reproduce.  I agree with your assessment about Allnic being a game changer.

If you ever travel through our international airport in Dallas / Ft. Worth give me a call and we can listen together.   That way you can hear MK3 Technics first hand.

Dear All. Many thanks for all of your comments.
During many years I was vintage fan, have collected many many 300B SE Amps, original WE-300A/B valves, etc... I have used my Tannoy with several 300B during last 30 years, but suddenly when I experienced Allnic was game changer... Allnic conserve all valve virtud with modern performance requests. The power amp Allnic KR-1610SE is really really maravelous. The combination with Tannoy Silver Units are unique.
The Phono Amp Allnic 5000DHT is another example. With RIAA variation control I can enjoy much much more all vintage records.
Having collected around vintage 20,000 pcs of Lps mainly classical each record can be adjusted exactly for Tannoy or for Wilson Alexia.
Alexia was a lateste up grade with Krell Evo One. Big big difference and mega improve up from Sasha I.
Tks again.

dantechoi

Absolutely  wonderful room  and equipment, I love the separate space with library ladder and countless shelves of LPs !

Interesting you have Wilson and Tannoy, worlds apart in art of expressing music.  Must be great to be able to choose according to mood :).

I too use Allnic, big fan for 7 years now.   Thanks for posting such a beautiful system.

albertporter

You have one great system and one of the nicest rooms i have ever seen.

gerulaz

Great setup and collection. Many times I hear Alexia and Krell EVO, glossy speakers and amplifier. Many times I've listened to Oracle, a friend he had an excellent turntable. DCS Scarlatti, yum.
I'd like to hear Allnic and Tannoy.
Enjoy!
