Amperidian I have not auditioned the Kubala Sosna Fascination cables.

Right now I've been focusing on testing Power Cables from Synergistic Research and JPS.

Do you have a recommendation?

System Edited: Updated Core Design amplifier Inserts with newer design. The inserts are 20% thicker and heavier with additional damping and RF shielding provided by a sheet of butyl, polyethylene, and two ply foil measuring 12″ x 8″ x 60mil.

Like the fact they use scientific methods and not just using 10 gauge cable with fancy plugs."

WOW. Nice system.

Have you ever used Kubala Sosna Fascination in your system?

amperidian

I don't watch much television but my wife made mention of Massive Attack on House. I'm familiar with Four80East. I'll have to check out James Hardaway. Thanks for the tip!
Good Listening!

Yowza!!!!!!!!!Man I need to get out ther and hear the dali's.I used to sell mac till 2001 and they just get more impressive as time goes on.And given the layout for everything else gives the Dali's a good reccomendation.

Massive Attack I just started listened to from watching House.

Try Four80East and James Hardway "L.A. Instrumental"

Thanks for stopping by "the Office."

lapierre

Sweet and simple system. Saw some of your posts on other systems. Great to see another Yellowjackets fan out there. I got into the jazz scene when I was in college in the mid to late seventies and have been loving it ever since. I have also been listening to a lot of electronica chill lately (Massive Attack is a favorite).

True. I guess they do mention the word scientific methods in some of the products I reviewed.

At least AP makes an effort to explain it in a video.

lapierre

" the fact they use scientific methods"
They all seems to make that claim...

I guess they can't just flat out tell us that it's "snake oil" I think that would be bad for business :-)
Don't you?

How do you like the Analysis big oval?
A while back I wanted to try them, but never got around to it. I have since play around with Kimber 4TC, 8 TC. XLO. Transparent Music link, wave, DNM and others . Now my babies are Q-audio Tao and Synergistic

guych

very nice! I love the simplicity and beauty of your system. And the McIntoshes are lovely.
I've sold a McCormack DNA-1 after I auditioned a older mac :-)
I guess there is reason why they hold their value for long time:-)

Thanks Chad.

This year I'm going to listen to more music and focus on refinements instead of looking at upgrading.

Great System...I fell for Dali's a few years back...would like to hear their monitors one day. Your system looks fantastic!

Kwel!!! The Dali's and MC can handle the Tower of Power in-drag sound. Liquid Soul and DoctorfunK have great horns. Could keep the vocals but love the horns.

Mingo Fishtrap has great sound as well. Check out Poncho Sanchez "Congo Blue" and Steve Winwood "About Time" with great percussion. Different flavor and great recording.

Looking at loud speakers from Cremona M, Miles III and Audio Note SPe/HE Spring 2009. The M's are on sale now but lousy timing for me.

lapierre

I'll check out Lettuce and Watanabe. I'll add Mingo Fishtrap, Phat Funktion,
Sante Fe Fat City Horns, Liquid Soul, Sage Funksway and nearly everything
from Tower of Power and Strokeland label (Doc Kupka)...and don't forget
Steve Ferrone (awesome drummer) and his "More Head" album -
great R&B stuff with Stone Temple Pilots crew.

Actually for your ailment I would prescribe The Doctor - based on what I can
tell from your listening tastes and "extrapolating" a bit - Strokeland Records
"DoctorfunK". It'll shake up your musical world - you may want bigger bad
ass big boy speakers to catch that groove though!

Big Sanborn fan (Upfront and Voyeur I have).

Marcus Miller... I cherry picked from iTunes.

Check out Kazumi Watanabe - Mobo II. It has Marcus Miller and Steve Jordan.

The Dali's demonstrate pretty good bass on this CD.

What else you got Shadorne? Did you check out Lettuce?

lapierre

He needs some Marcus Miller then.

jazzkid

Voyeur is excellent - smooth FM jazz/R&B type album. Although I was actually trying to push Lapierre's envelope somewhat deeper towards funk...

shadorne

Yes Sanborn is great ,Do you have his Voyeur album Shadorne?

jazzkid

Try David Sanborn - Upfront - it is not all his usual smooth schmultzy stuff -
it might also help you get into groovy Funk from smooth radio style jazz. Be
wary though - you might not get any work done in your office if you catch the
Funk. (with Steve Jordan on drums - this CD is an absolute delight and
demonstration of exceptional "musical" drumming)

Big Lorber fan.

lapierre

Very Cool! I have a lot of Bob James, some Yellow Jackets and Down to the Bone.If you likes keyboards you have got to get some Jeff lorber George Duke and Brian Culbertson great stuff,I everything Lorber has made. You should try his definitive collection.I'll have to get some of the guys you mentioned I'm not familar with most of them.

Thanks for the tip. Here are some of the new music I've been listening to:

Soulive (I have already)
Lettuce
3D
John Scofield
The Greyboy Allstars
Down to the Bone
Shilts
The New Mastersounds
Azymuth
Topaz
John Mayer Trio

lapierre

I don't listen to vocals very much

Try Soulive Steady Groovin', Nils Landgren Funk Unit "5000 Miles" and ToP Oakland Zone - you might make the leap from Jazz to Funk - if you are looking to broaden your experience - 480east is already in that direction just a bit too smooth to really get groovin'.
