Meridian DSP-5500 Audio System, 2xDSP5500, G98, DSP5000C, M1500

The G98 (DVD Audio) can be used to drive music to the main DSP5500 speakers. I believe a separate processor such as the G61 (which will be listed separately) would be needed to add the center channel and subwoofer to the mix.

Also Included: power cables (for all items), coax cables and Meridian Comms cables.

Not Included: MSR (MSR or Universal Remote would be needed to control the system), Boxing and manuals.

All items were tested before being listed for sale and are in perfect working condition.

The 5500s have a few very small scuffs that I will touch up before the items are picked up, The DSP5000 center speaker has a larger scuff on the bottom. The M1500 Subwoofer has quite a few scuffs on it but most are not visible unless really close up and the sub can also be hidden.

Original 18bit version, with a 4 digit-7 segment display in a square top.

System Design: Three-way active loudspeaker, DSP crossover at 200Hz and 2.6kHz, Four channels of delta-sigma D/A conversion, Four 75W power amplifiers per channel, All signal processing is performed in the 100MHz digital signal processors.

Controls: System and speaker are operated with the included Meridian System Remote. The listener has control over the source and features including bass, tilt, listening axis, volume, balance and absolute phase. Inputs: Two coax digital audio, 32kHz to 96kHz, up to 24 bit. MHR support.

Response: 35Hz to 20kHz. Max. output 112dB spl.

Display: Four-character display (DSP5500.2 has eight-character dot-matrix display).

Drive units: Two 200mm high-efficiency bass drivers, one 160mm polypropylene mid driver and one Meridian 25mm short-horn tweeter with aluminium dome and silver voice coil.

Cabinet: Veneered MDF braced, steel shielded and damped, in black ash or rosewood finish. Cables included.

Meridian DSP5000C The centre channel supplies dialogue in movies, and sharpens the musical stage. It can also add tremendous energy and should not be dismissed lightly when assembling a surround system. The DSP5000C is a single-box DSP loudspeaker in a front-facing format that can be effectively built into system cabinets. The DSP5000C is heavily shielded for use near the largest television screens. Like every Meridian digital active speaker, it carries all necessary electronics on board, including three 75-watt amplifiers, two converters, digital crossovers and a complement of powerful computers. Using Digital Signal Processing (DSP), internal computers adjust bass, treble and absolute phase while remaining sonically transparent. The same DSP system also provides equalisation settings to allow optimum performance when installing a DSP5000C in one of five common room positions: freestanding, wall-bound, above or below a TV, or behind a projection screen. The DSP5000C uses linear-phase digital crossovers. With no phase shift, a digital crossover brings voices and instruments into sharp relief. The DSP5000C blends seamlessly with other Meridian equipment, but can also be adjusted, using its powerful DSP, to match any high quality stereo system. Although horizontally disposed, the DSP5000C is not only a centre speaker. If you prefer the horizontal or shelf-mounting format, it can be used in stereo pairs, or for any position in a surround system.
