Music Reference RM-9 100wpc Amplifier (Upgraded, Fully Serviced)

For Sale - Iconic Music Reference RM9 tube amplifier, a creation of the late great tube amp designer and builder, Roger A. Modjeski. Though this is the original mk1, I had my local tech fully upgrade this amp to mk2 standards, which included: replaced all electrolytic caps on the PCB and power cap banks; rebuilt power supply with RAM-supplied chokes, rebuilt sub-power supplies, and replaced bias resistors (all receipts in hand). The former owner replaced the power switch as well. At the time of the upgrade, I installed a fresh suite of new power and driver tubes from RAM (KT88s for the power tubes). Since then, I needed to replace two of those KT88s so installed two pairs of matched JJ KT88s.

Sonically, the RM9 blends the lushness of tubes with the power and punch of a solid-state amp. I've used it with Magnepans and B&Ws and it sounded fantastic with both. You would be hard-pressed to find speakers this amp could not effortlessly drive.

Since the upgrade, this amp has seen very very few hours (under 30) and I am only selling it because the RM9 has been out of rotation for some time and should be enjoyed by a music lover out there.

Cosmetically, there are a few scratches where the prior owner wedged the tube cage off. The wood trim is excellent, the transistors are clean, and the cage is in perfect shape.

In terms of specs, the RM9 is a dual mono all-vacuum tube design pushing 100 watts per channel. Input impedance: 100k ohms. Input sensitivity: adjustable, 0.4–1.2V. Dimensions: 17¾" W by 11¾" D by 6½" H. Weight: 60 lbs.
