Description

This is my current reference system. It's finally set up again. The room is quite good. It's treated with some absorption panels RPG, Hemifusors and Skylines and variscreens. There are broadband helmhotz resonators hidden in the front of the room. Ceiling diffusion using RPG Hemifusors are in. Ceiling is painted black and walls in a medium grey.

System edited: Pictures updated, video is added and room is painted for better video performance--but the real love is still audio.

Rives,
Thanks for the invitation. I may just do that some day.

We do not have a store front in Iowa City. Our dealers do that. However, if you happen to be in the area, give me a call--we can show you our operations here.

rives

Rives,
Actually I really WAS wondering if you have a store in Coralville or Iowa City.....

Rives,
Do you have a store in Coralville? If so, is there plenty of free "PARC"-ing?

Jim: I am in Coralville. You are more than welcome to visit.

rives

Rives,

Are you still in the Coralville/Iowa City area??

Thanks for the compliments. I like the fish tank too. I've recently gotten into corals which is really fun. However, I have to turn off the pumps for critical listening sessions.

rives

Nice room. I especially like the fish tank built into the wall.

I don't really know what other drivers to recommend. I researched these with speaker manufacturers and then discussed it with the folks at Martin Logan.

rives

Thank you, what other bass driver would you use? I am happy with the bass output, but always wondering if there is something better out there.

I've had a number of requests for designs for those LP racks. Here they are: Rives LP Rack.

At the time you could get the Focal Audiom drivers from several sources. Focal has sense gotten out of that business and sells only to speaker manufacturers with a history with them.

rives

I have monolith III, where did you get the new bass drivers?

Lenny: Thanks. Casey is one of the best in customer service. All of his clients love him--so I'm not surprised that he did an awesome job.

rives

Nice system. By the way, your PARC is awesome and Casey at ne Plus Ultra did an awesome job tuning my room with it.

I'm glad I didn't post the pictures of the other rack. It has all the Mosaic collections, all UHQR, some really incredible original classical box sets, and some japanese jazz import box sets. Fortunately, Albert doesn't dig any of that, so I'll send him the scratched up early 70s rock albums that were abused in college. Albert--just send me your UPS account number--and don't question them when you get a whole bunch of international shipments on your bill.

rives

What are those? Skinny books?

Beautifully designed room - its always great to see more of Rives work.

Richard,
I like the LP rack just as it is. However, I think you are going to need a second one as I am sure you will be acquiring much more vinyl...

slipknot1

I'll be happy to help Albert in removing the vinyl bric-a-brac. You'll be finally ready to start fine tuning the room.

gregm

Rives, being the expert in acoustics that I am, I can see that the major problem with your system is too many LP's in that rack.

Since I always enjoy speaking with you at all the audio shows, I will take those LP's off your hands, solving your problem completely.

Just ship them out, you can thank me later. (No need to pay me, that's what friends are for).
