I see. Let us know when or if that a ha moment comes! I just put in the Bent autoformer preamp and it's phenomenal. I can't believe I'm saying this but my beloved Synergistic Research interconnects may go soon. I'm trying out a pair of Audioquest Colorado interconnects with the 72v DBS and I think they have more "air" and transparency than the SR. I think my next move will be a fuse for the Job 225. Oh yeah, it took almost three weeks longer for me to get my Synergistic Research Element Tungsten SE power cord than promised. I must say though......worth the wait. Hope your SR stuff is working out Lampierre.
My Lightspeed passive is working nicely with the new Job 225 amplifier. I'm awaiting delivery of a Bent TAP-X autoformer preamp in two days. This will be my second time having the Bent TAP-X in my system, but this time in a completely different setup.
After hours, no, MONTHS of researching passives and which one to put in the system, I've ultimately decided to try the Lightspeed Attenuator on my current system. I've owned the Lightspeed before but on a system with much higher "passive preamp friendly" specs. That's why I was on the fence for so long about buying another one. If it doesn't work out, for whatever reason, I will sell it and buy Audio Consulting transformers and other necessary parts and have my friend build a TVC passive using the AC trannys. I hope the LSA works though.
Yes Synergistic products can leave someone skeptical. They're constantly coming out with new products and upgrades, but like I always said, "If it sounds better, it's not snake oil". Glad the SRs are working out for you Lapierre.
Lapierre, just wondering if you've started listening to the Synergistic powercell and power cords you mentioned. I'm curious of your findings and how they compare to other products you may have heard.
Lapierre, Wow, also sorry to hear about that but hey, It could've been worse. I also made some adjustments. I just changed my system completely...again. I just posted pictures of the new system but since posting them, I've moved the speakers on either side of the tv. It actually sounds better the way it is now. I think the side wall reflections are out of the equation more. I'll post a new pic of the speakers soon. Well, best of luck in wherever you decide to move. I'm in South Jersey now but grew up not far from North Jersey....in Mercer County.
Before the acoustic treatments, the room had a MAJOR slap echo. It was almost unlistenable-to me anyway. After the treatments, WOW! What a change. Everything became more focused and clean, no late reflections to deal with(I'm sure that my current treatment setup can be improved upon, but you must remember to balance optimal acoustic needs, with home decor. At the end of the day, you still have to live there). Still, certain passages of music that had a "harsh and bright" sound did no sound that way after the treatments. I'm a huge fan of Marten Design. I spoke with Dan Meinwald at HE NY and heard the Duke Ellington's there and loved them. My friend has the Duke's. After listening, I fell in love and bought the Miles II's. The same friend just bought the Miles III's and they are incredible. Thank you for the compliment on the EAR stuff. I've been a long time fan. I love everything Tim does...I had his 50 watt integrated, and the 20 watt integrated. My friend also has the 890, 509's, and 868 preamp-all great. So long.
