Description

The system has evolved quite a bit in the last years. The Unidisk has replaced both the Krell SACD and the Class CD/DVD 1. The Exotik and C2200 have replaced the Classé CAP 151 and were finally replaced by the legendary Linn Klimax Kontrol and Linn KLimax Solo combination. The Ayon Falcon-S have just replaced the original Falcon and made place for the Lumen White Silver Flame and finally the Consensus Conspiracy.

Added a Hydra 8 lately but removed it again since there is no difference when you use Linn Chakra technology. Replaced the Shunyata Lyra with the Shunyata Andromeda, tehn teh Shunyata Orion and finally ended up with the Consensus speaker cable.

    • Linn Unidisk 1.1
Replaced my Classe CD/DVD1 and Krell SACD players and has stunningly better CD and SACD performance.
    • Linn Klimax Kontrol
Replaced the Linn Exotik. The performance is perfect. No comparison to the already fine Exotik.
    • Linn Klimax 500 solo
Replaced the Linn C2200. Although all my speakers need very little power, the difference between the Klimax Solos and the C2200 ist astounding. The Klimax Solos have authority whilst being fast and transparent.
    • Linn Standard
The standard interconnects that were in the box with the units. Maybe replaced one day.
    • Consensus Audio Conspiracy
Wonderfully built speaker with ceramic chassis. They have evreything the Lumen White Silver Flame had but with the same price tag add unbelievable bass performance. Deep, precise and natural.
    • Consensus Audio Silver/Gold
Proprietary speaker cable for Consensus speakers. Replaced the Shunyata Orion and suits the system better.

Well the Falcon S is a small version of a Lumen White Silver Flame in tonality and dynamics. Basically what you would expect for half the money. The Silver Flame is very close to the White Light, just a tick off, but at half the price.

The Consensus Conspiracy has the same price as the Silver Flame and costs only little more than half the price of the White Light.

But the sound is totally awesome. It has more and deeper bass (almost too much for my room), has the large midtone driver and has a much more realistic soundscape due to the fact that it is simply taller and the tweeter and the midrange are higher from the floor.

Also the dedicated feet (at 1500 Euro not a bargain at first) are unbelievable at keeping the bass away from the floor.

Also I have Stefan Feketes Consensus speaker cable and this replaced my Shunyata Orion without any doubt. I was never really happy with the Orion compared to the Lyra, but the Consensus cable made the decision to sell it immediately clear and off to Ebay the Shunyata went ;-)

What I can say is that even with the high efficiency of the speakers I really love my 500 Watt monoblocks. They have the authority that matches the speakers.

BTW I just received a Gainclone in form of the Audiosector integrated amp and WOW, that is some sound and built quality for less than my speakers feet were! If you want to treat yourself to a little experiment, try this one out.

If I didn't have the price tag of my Linns in mind, I might have switched ;-)

The guy whom I bought the Lumens from had the RP-1 and said it was absolutely stunning. I thought about trying that out between the preamp and the monos.

That rack is manufactured by Phonosophie in Germany. I believe that is was formerly labeled under the Naim brand.

I find that the solos have a deeper and more defined bass and the difference between the solos and the C2200 is by far larger than the difference between the Klimax Kontrol and the Exotik. Even though you do not need the 500 W power with my speakers.

BTW did you ever work with Lyngdorfs Room Perfect system? I currently have a pair of Lumen White Silver Flame speakers until my Consensus arrive and they cannot be placed perfectly in my room.

System edited: The category "ever evolving" will probably change soon to "done for now" since there have been many changes in the system lately. The amps have been moved up to the Klimax Kontrol with Klimax 500 solos and the Ayon Falcon have been sold to make room for the Consensus Audio Conspiracy in a few weeks.

System edited: I recently changed the Shunyata Lyra against the Andromeda and shortly after that to the Orion (thanks to Audiogon's for sale section...). Also replaced the Exotik by the Klimax Kontrol preamplifier. This is so good that I will change the C2200 towards the Klimax Chakra Twin or even the Klimax monoblocks.
