Description

I have been at this hobby for 4 years now. I have had about 5 different setups but this one is perfect for my current situation. I got married a few months ago and moved a small house in Nashville,Tn. There was not enuff room for a dedicated "stereo room" so this was my compromise. Luckily my wife lets me place the speakers out away from the armoire. Sound is dynamic and liquid. Prolly could could sound better but i'm not willing to spend those kinda $$$.

Hey that photo ain't of Nashville. BTW - you have some great studios in Nashville - some of the best recording studios in the entire world.

Love those Piega P-10's.

Looking forward to reading the updates to your system and room. Many changes on the way perhaps, but keep the wife indeed.

System edited: Just got started on the new remodel project. Will take 8- 9 months to finish. I have a dedicated 2ch/ht room included in the plans.

You are right. She is the better half of that picture...

You had to know this was coming. God, I miss SF....

Streetdaddy,

I have my entire system in my greatroom, which puts a premium on controlling light in a typical Florida home. But we sit 14 feet from our 92" screen, the projector is right overhead but is very quiet (we've had the InFocus Screenplay 110 for 5 years now and will be in the market for a replacement next year, probably Sony. We have been very happy with the performance of this system, especially for the price and we're still happy with it even though the technology is over 5 years old now.

We also have a 42" plasma in the bedroom which has a great picture but for sports and movies, only the projector and 92" screen will do, not to mention the sound system!

Hope this helps.

IMO hiring a pro is cheaper long term than experimenting yourself. In general, from my expirience, spending your money on room adaptation gives far greater effects than the same amount of money spend on upgrading your gear.

Ha Ha Elberoth! Thanks. I have since made her my wife. Along with being beautiful she puts up with all my Audio craziness. I am in the early stages of remodeling my house and am building a dedicated room. I really like what you've done with yours and also am looking at those cary monoblocks. Still deciding if i want to hire a pro or just get the dimensions right and put up absorption/diffusion/base traps myself. What do you think?

streetdaddy

Wow - you got a beautiful GF ... er ... I meant system ;-)

Congrats again on a sweet and simple system. Love the sheet/flower tweak ;)

I agree on not having the TV in the middle. I'm selling my CRT and just listening until I can afford to put a plasma on the wall, and that's only if I can get the speakers far enough away that it won't just turn into an expensive echo platform.

System edited: Moved tv out from between the speakers. A lot less distracting!

Eoyola,
You're right. We just got back last weekend. That is in North beach looking west. Very perceptive.

streetdaddy

Just added a pic of me and my wife.

Despite discussions occuring on other threads, I found the Wolff source cord made a nice difference on the Exemplar. I had been using a TG Audio 688 prior to the Wolff cord. My wife commented on the difference as well. Placebo effect? Dunno...we both heard a difference and my wife described the difference exactly as I was hearing it (without my feeding her descriptives beforehand). FWIW, the Wolff gain cord did not have the same appreciable effect in my system.

Ic's are audience au24's. I am using a cheap Sonic horizen "daybreak" powercord. I may ask for some kind of powercord for xmas.

streetdaddy

But merry-go-round's are fun! I've had mine for 9 days, and it's been running 24/7. It sounds excellent, but I'm expecting further changes to make it even better. What IC's and power cord are you using on it?

Tvad,
I've had it for 2 weeks now. It really sounds good and is a good match with the Rowland. I am totally satisfied and am officially off the merry-go-round.

streetdaddy

How long have you had the Exemplar in the system, and what's the verdict?

System edited: System has been in flux for last few years. I am finally to the point where i'm done obsessing over gear and can finally relax. Can't see myself changing anything but maybe cables, just to be doing. Promised wife i was done switching gear. She gets pissed having to move furniture/ pick stuff up for me etc....

streetdaddy

Hi Streetdaddy. Nice system. Like you, I also grace my living room with my system. I thank my wife for being so accomodating. So we call it the music room. I have heard very nice reports of the Piega's sounding excellent.

I think your in for quite a nice sonic treat with the Rowland amp. Oh...and I would love to have such a great "listening buddy!" :) Enjoy! Ken

Streetdaddy,
I'd be very interested in your impressions of the Concerto. Please write about it after the break in.
