hello, really sweet set up. I'm in the market for an amp and was seriously considering the Prologue 1. Can you tell me your experience with the bass and how well the 35watts powers your Audio Physics? Thanks and enjoy.

Mike, very nice system: In fact I got inspired by your post (and Ken Lyons post) to also built my own Ikea rack. Just posted my system at

Tube system - Revolutions

It works great. Very stable and rigid, but at the same time very light. I was first a little skeptical about the size, but it looks so nice and open and not heavy at all.

Thanks for your inspiration.

Mikemarv,

A very nice looking system. It must sound great too! If I wasn't so deep into this hobby [confused], I'd love to be able to build a simple and elegant system like the one you've put together. Nice job!

Hi Plinko, I added the Herbie tube dampers more to further refine my system than to correct an audible vibration problem. In my system, the audible difference is subtle but everything is a bit more tight. The reviews for Herbies compare favorably to other products and they offer a no trouble return policy, so you might as well try. I added the Rack before the tube dampers, and the rack made a material audible difference.

mikemarv

Hello sir, like your rack. Do your Herbies work? I've got a microphonic tube I'd like to quiet down. It's no problem if the music is louder but at low volumes, it's not so good.

System edited: Built a DIY Lyte Rack using IKEA Lack end tables. Designed by Ken Lyon as an affordable alternative to his stellar Neuance platforms.

System edited: Added Blue Circle MR1200 balanced power unit fed by Eichmann eXpress AC power cord. Now hearing low level info on certain CD's I never new existed.

System edited: I am planning to install dedicated AC lines for my system. I'd welcome your feedback to this method. Thanks!

Jh2os, very pleased with the Yaras. Distribution in the U.S. is thin, and this makes them hard to audition. I'd be curious to know how the Prologue Two compares to your former Cayin? You've got a great system; I've heard terrific things about the Cairn Fog, and I considered the Totem One monitors.

mikemarv

Very nice system. I have a very similar set-up: Prologue Two, Cairn Fog, Totem Arro's. Modest, but musical, I feel the same way. I've always been curious to here the Yara's, but just never had the chance.

Ya, I feel like I won the lotto with this amp. I'm not familiar with the Technics source, but I think the Tjoeb would add considerably to your enjoyment. The open architecture design of the Tjoeb makes it very flexible. In addition to experimenting with different tubes, there are 3 op-amp combos that you can try...all for under $50 a pop. This unit is terrific even without the upsampler. You can augment the unit in phases, and experiment with the op-amps first. The difference being that the Upsampler adds bass extension, offers a larger soundstage and more midrange bloom. Finally, for my speakers, the vibrapods made a HUGE difference, as if I had a completely different speaker. More bass and better imaging.

Mikemarv,

Very nice system. I just got the Prologue Two and love it. These amps are great, aren't they? I'm running a Technics cd changer into mine. Using Axiom M60 speakers which are nice. How much improvement do you think I will gain with the AH over a Technics! upsampled and not? If I get the AH!, I will be first trying without the upsampler. Do the vibropods under the speaker make a difference?

cheers,

Paul
