Description

It may be a pretty modest system by Audiogon standards, but it's mine, and I love it. It sounds great, but I also know there's more. I am so happy to have a dedicated listening room, even though I still live in an an apartment with neighbors. It can be hard to justify the costs of upgrading, but I certainly intend to! I always liked KEF speakers and became a fan of PS Audio while reading Paul's autobiography. Maybe not the best reasons to pick equipment, but I think it pointed me in a good direction to start. I'm regularly surprised by the imaging and detail I get, and also how much richer and authentic the sound is when listening to vinyl, compared to streaming Tidal through the Wiim Pro and SMSL DAC. I know that's a pretty weak digital setup, but most here would scoff at a U-turn table also, but I get a lot better sound out of it.

Upgrades: I want to add room treatment and upgrade the record player and get proper phono preamp.

I started my audio journey in high school, mostly interested in home theater. I'd go to my local high-end audio store on weekends, read Home Theater magazine and Stereo Review. I would call manufacturers and request them to send me any literature they had on their products. I owned Paradigm monitor SE7MkII speakers with an Onkyo receiver, and Onkyo 5-disc DVD changer. I thought spending $40 on the optical cable was just crazy. I loved demo'ing my system for friends, often with the opening scene to Gladiator.
