AudioQuest WEL Signature 1.0m RCA cable pair

This pair of cables is in good condition and operates perfectly. There is no damage of any kind. The original box and packaging is included which seems to be uncommon with most WEL series cables that come available. There is some light fraying of the braid as happens to any AQ cables after a short time. Some of the WEL labeling on the connectors has worn off. Shipping is FREE in the USA. The reason for the sale is that I don't use these anymore - I mostly use XLR connections and have one pair of WEL XLR cables as well as a pair of newer AQ Dragon XLR cables. Note that the RCA connectors on these cables are larger than most. There needs to be a bit more room than the typical distance you’d see between RCA inputs on a home theater receiver, for instance.

This is an early verision of Audioquest's flagship interconnect from maybe 2008/2009 but I’m not entirely certain. I purchased these from a dealer that used them in-store and had them in their stockroom for years. According to my research Audioquest used the multicolor blue/black on WEL cables for a short time before changing to a solid black braid by 2010/2011 if not earlier. You’ll notice that the Audioquest box labels the cables as “Horizon.” As I understand it, this was the original name for WEL signature cables but I recall reading that another manufacturer was already using the name “Horizon” and was able to have Audioquest stop using that name. Thus you also see the price sticker labelled as “Signature.” There isn’t much info on the internet about how long “Horizon” was used before “WEL.” It probably wasn’t long which explains why few of these versions ever appear for sale, internet searches about it mostly come up empty, and the pdf price book for combined years 2008/2009 might have had the descriptions of a flagship Horizon/WEL removed given there is no entry for a flagship cable.

Throughout the lifetime of Audioquest's WEL signature interconnect, Audioquest updated the braid cosmetics, the DBS packs, went from 7 to 8 layers of their carbon-based noise dissipation system," changed the connectors, and raised the price.

I would not call the WEL Signature a warm sounding cable. It does not sugar coat. If you have a cool or bright sounding system, you'll hear more of it, If you have a neutral or slightly warm system, you will hear your system at near its best.

Needless to say, Audioquest WEL is a reference cable in any version and among the best interconnects ever made in my opinion. It was (and still is) a reference to measure other cables against. The top end clarity is stunning. Musical notes and voices fade into absolute silence. Dynamics are unrestrained and compression is subjectively non-existent. I had never heard a cable with this resolution before I purchased this WEL Signature cable.
