Proceed AMP-2 by Mark Levinson. New capacitors. Sounds terrific!

Hello. I have owned the Proceed PRE and DAP at separate times and was impressed with the performance. I did not expect what I heard. The sound is wide open and uncolored. The midrange has a real purity to it. I would say it is a little bit romantic. The high frequencies are neither bright nor dark. Super smooth and detailed. Bass has power and control. Imaging is wonderful with the music just floating in the air - completely detached from the speakers. When I listen to my system with this amplifier in place, I can just zone out and enjoy the music. Very enjoyable and non-fatiguing. I liked it so much that I bought a Mark Levinson No. 331 power amp. I hear a lot of the same traits possessed by the 331.

I am an electronic tech by trade and have upgraded 100s of pieces of audio equipment. Upon removing the cover, I discovered that the 4 main filter caps were bulging on the top. A sign of inevitable failure. This is my 3rd AMP 2 and they've all been like this. I took my time to clean everything up and get the new caps installed which included 8 other smaller capacitors on the boards. Bass got a bit quicker along with overall transient speed. An amazing amp for the price compared to anything in its price range especially with the insane price of new HiFi. Plus, it is now reliable for several decades to come.

The condition is good. A few scratches but looks good from the listening position. The previous owner tried to use paint to cover the scratches but it’s a bit lighter shade. See pictures. Let me know if you have any questions.
