This particular model is sold, this ad is for a custom commission, turnaround about two months. The visual concept is the brainchild of my industrial designer, who designed my logo. The concept he calls Colours, being always the same ochre plinth, but matched to bright metalwork, chassis, platter and oversized footers. In this case Ferrari Orange, I propose Royal Blue for the next. The idea is, for the chassis, platter and oversized aluminum footers (which sound excellent) bright colours in a high gloss (bright blue, green, red etc.), against a contrasting background of pebbled ochre paint which complements all bright colours very well, very tough itself, and with a very tough acrylic clearcoat. This visual design can be applied to any model (Classic Lenco, Reference Lenco, Ultimate Lenco etc.).

Read a recent report from my Facebook page: Facebook

ALL materials have a sound, regardless of their engineering advantages (density, hardness, softness, mass etc.), this is a fundamental aspect of all my work, from the woods through the metals and even plastics and lubricants and greases. This is a new Reference Lenco model, using a new set of tonewoods in the critical plinth after much research and testing. After two decades of experimenting with various tonewoods I know what makes a good tonewood, and it is not rarity, density or price.

Constrained Layer damping informs all my work, that being bonding different materials to ensure a tonally accurate whole and low noise floor. I decided to make a Reference plinth based on woods which grow in my region. A first plinth built using one of these tonewoods in isolation yielded an incredibly fast and lively sound, on the bright thin side, the other is very good but staid and controlled. When these two new tonewoods are bonded together inside the new plinth with my usual layers of various materials, the sound becomes more even and tonally accurate, but also unbelievably musical, addictive and energetic, while at the same time being very detailed and with superb tight expressive and bottomless bass, and crystal clear high frequencies, a true Reference Lenco. Perhaps not as absolutely perfectly balanced/neutral as my main Reference and Ultimate models, but a viable alternative for those who want a high entertainment factor with state of the art performance in terms of detail, imaging, frequency extension at both ends.

A pack of wolves reside on my property where these tonewoods grow naturally, and the sound of this 'table is wild and powerful in the best sense of those words, as if the spirit of the wolves have entered into the turntable via the lumber which they live among, hence the name Fenrir Reference Lenco. Photos of an actual red wolf over a recent kill (I had followed the hunt the day prior) I came across while snowshoeing my property.

Otherwise, this is a Reference Lenco MKII in terms of all parts, style of construction and options (one tonearm, two tonearms, long tonearms ort short tonearms). It can be done in wood finishes as well.

Client decides colour of chassis and design (one long or short tonearm, two tonearms etc.), I can source most tonearms on the market, project begins with a 50% deposit as per the last two decades of building custom record players. Usual method if client has a tonearm for the project is to ship it to me for perfect set-up (VTA as well as geometry, positioning due to design).

Buyer pays actual cost of shipping, international air shipping can be done at a very good price (roughly $700 anywhere in the world) provided a business address is provided.
