Description of Burmester 948 power conditioner (big brother to the 038).

"The electronics should all be fed into the 948 power conditioner. Now this is a controversial choice – picking a power conditioner before a preamp in the hierarchy of things. Nevertheless, it does actually work in this context. It is essentially a high-pass power line DC offset compensator (rather than a simple blocker), coupled to a low-pass AC line filter. The DC offset compensation works in parallel to the AC supply, so it doesn’t strip out dynamic range, while the two AC filters can be assigned to separate outputs for individual custom filtration. Eighteen years after its launch, it’s still the power conditioner to beat."

As Burmester describes it: the 038 Power Conditioner works unlike any other line filter on the world market. The 038 is actually a 300 watt power amplifier that works in parallel mode with the AC power supply as an active system compensating for any DC offset components in the AC mains coming from the wall socket. The effected sound improvement is permanently stable throughout the day and night.

SPECIFICATIONS:

* Four additional RF filters with a steep slope at -20db at 20Khz with real improvements on digital sources

* Six separate components can b hooked up directly to the 038 with mass between the six outlets star-connected

*With certain Burmester preamps and DAC's that have a variable output, the outlets of the 038 can be remotely switched on and off

* 10 volts DC input for remote switching by Burmester preamps

* We recommend connecting the Power Amplifiers to the four outlets WITHOUT RF noise filters

* NO POWER LIMITATION for components connected to the outlets WITHOUT RF filtering
