@jond oh yea, the Nikko is really cool. It's a monster. It's supposed to be 65W/pc, but I think it's way, WAY underreported. In terms of sheer power, it blows the Schiit (Vidar) out of the water, but it's not as detailed or 'holographic' as Vidar is, probably due to age (it's 45 years old.) Also, it has a very aggressive pre-amp stage. It also puts out an incredible amount of bass, but again, it's not as controlled as Vidar is. 
The Rectilinear speakers I have are very power hungry, and the Schiit could barely get them to move, where Nikko powers them without problems.

Sounds about right in Rotel’s timeline. I wouldn’t be surprised is the 02 and 1072 share similar characteristics.

Thanks @hendrixinc ! I've had the Rotel CD Player for a while now. It has a very forward, assertive sound that sounded a bit harsh with my old B&W DM602 S3 speakers. Since upgrading to Sonus Faber, it's been balanced really well, and I started using it a lot more.
