Description

This system continues to evolve over time with each component added to upgrade its predecessor and set the stage for the next upgrade. The Avalon Design AD 2055 EQ is used to tune the bass frequencies to minimize the room modes. The speakers are very well integrated to the room that this system sounds far better than more expensive systems that are not as well tuned to the listening room. The sound is natural and very musical with precise imaging and punchy powerful bass.

Next upgrade considered is the Audio Research LS26.

Hi, I have a LS 5 MK2 preamp and was considering buying some Classic 120 monoblocks for my Hrbeth M40. After trying them I imediatly decided I did not wanted valve amps, because those ones produced a bloated sound!
I wonder if VT 100 mk3 can sound better? What is your experience with valve amps, was this the only that gave you a "pounchy powerfull bass"? Thanks, regards, João

I certainly agree that the most overlooked aspect of a system ...is the ROOM. I have been fighting bass response in my room forever. My room measures 28'Dx18"Wx10"H. I have planars crossed over to subs in two opposite corners. This is doing the best job thus far since the two subs manage to get rid of the cancellation nodes. With all that said what would the Avalon do for me based upon your experience?
