Description

Sadly I have been a Audiophile /Music lover for a long time, Have had many systems of all kinds this system may not be my best but I am very pleased with the way it sounds, I own a Modwright LS 36.5-DM Preamp with vintage tubes I am waiting on some Mullard GZ37 and Soviet 6H30 DR to install , my power Amps are the now vintage McIntosh MC-501 Mono Blocks Nice amps my front end is a Oppo/Modwright UDP-205 Disc player/Dac/Streamer/ With Modwright PS 9.0 Power Supply using a vintage Philips 5R4GYS This combo just dose every thing right with vintage Tesla 6922 tubes in the Oppo , my Speakers are the now vintage Tyler Acoustics Linbrook Signature in Blood Red Finish with cardas internal wire , also have Daedalus Audio Ulysses V.2 Speakers ,  also I have a stereo set of Velodyne 15-DD Subwoofers Stunning really!  most of my Cables are CCAC From Mel I have been using his cables for over 15 years fantastic! Silver cables , I also have a Wywires Umbilical and a few Audio Horizons Transparency power cords from Joseph Chow, and a few Audioquest IC's and power cords, this is where I ended up(FOR NOW) on my long Audio journey thanks for looking
(Update) I bought a set of Sonus Faber Amati Homage speakers in Mid spring I am very pleased ,Also I forgot to say I have two twenty Amp power lines from my Breaker Box to my System with two Hubble wall outlets dead quiet!  (Update # 2) I replaced my McIntosh MC 501 Mono Block with Pass Labs XA-100.5 Class A Mono Blocks 200 watts into 4 ohm load seems to be more than enough power for my Amati Speakers and my room , I would buy another McIntosh I would love to own there Big Tube Mono Blocks MC 2301.

A near mint set I got from A Audiogon Member serial number 230 A & B, Better Highs and midrange than my Tyler's Acoustic Linbrook Sigs.
    • ModWright LS 36.5 DM Preamp
Fantastic Tubed Line stage with vintage Tubes, A perfect Match for my MC 501's
    • Velodyne DD 15 (Pair) Subwoofer's
Although I don't use these fine Subs very much there set at 8 out of 99 for volume and the EQ is flat or under they still ad A killer punch below 24Hz Amazing I am running out of my Preamp to line in and then I split the signal into Left & Right input so both run Full Mono from each channel
    • Crystal Clear Audio Magnum Opus Cables
Top Line Silver Cables outstanding sounding , Speaker and between amps also from my Oppo
    • Oppo/Modwright 205 disc Player with PS 9.0 power Supply
Already a nice player taken to the Next level by Dan Wright you have to spend crazy Money to get better sound!

Hello joel_hifi ,Yes I did this is what's so dangerous about hifi .I put this little stereo Amplifier into my system and after a few days of run in I was blown away by the little Pass Labs XA30.5,  better images plus layers of music that I wasn't aware of, yes the McIntosh had more bass but it wasn't controlled like the Pass Labs,  I went back to my McIntosh for a short while but preferred the XA30.5,  even driving my Sonus Faber to very loud levels this little Amplifier IMO has more than enough power 60 watts class A 195 watts class A/B into 4ohms , was so impressed I sold my McIntosh mono blocks they were gone in five minutes so I bought a set of Pass Labs Xa100.5 mono blocks I am still running these in so we will see,  thanks for asking enjoy my friend!

Did you receive the XA30.5?

Sadly?

It's all part of the journey (Spending Money and shifting things around).

You have a great system there - Enjoy!

Thank you joel_hifi   I  will be adding a Pass Labs XA30.5 that is being refurbished by Pass Labs I should have the amp sometime next week. I'm not selling my MC 501 just thought I'd try the little Pass Labs amp to see if it will drive my Armati speakers,  who knows maybe I'll like it the price is right.  Again thanks for you're commit!

Sadly , is for the money spent to get to this point, I could list many electronics , Krell 600-C, McIntosh MC-402, Aragon 4004 , Aragon 8002 , a Old Adcom Polk audio and a few others , VTL 5.5 V.1 McIntosh C-2002, BAT- 51SE , Audio Research Ref.3  so much Digital gear   to many to name all kinds of speakers including B&W 501 Matrix B&W 804 Matrix B&W 802 Nautilus , Tyler Acoustics Woodmere , Definitive Tech BP-20 , Plus all the Turntables Phono Pre's countless cables just to name a few , so you see Sadly I should have a much better system than I now own but I am out of time and money! , I am not complaining your right this system is very Nice but now you see Sadly , Take care my Friend

I wonder why you start off with “sadly”
The system looks fantastic. I bet those McIntosh monos sound great with those speakers.  All that music on your shelves must make you very happy. I listen to both vinyl and Redbook cds and I like both formats very much.  Enjoy the music.
