Description

This is a beautiful small library with one full wall of mahogany bookshelves. I can enjoy music and gaze out over the Ozark forest surrounded by books and music.
The REL sub and VR-1s blend perfectly.

I have two other main music rooms so I set this up to see how little money could sound great. It's mainly a headphone rig with sat/sub for ambient sound. The Sennheiser and ASL headphone amp are perfect together. The DacMagic is still amazing and when fed lossless digital from the server is really amazing.

Just saw this. Thanks very much. I especially like the room in the fall when the colors change.

Nice to see your listening/reding room shown and not only the system. Very nice selection of well respected slightly older gear.

System edited: Added the self-assembled Bottlehead Crack headphone amplifier. It's a perfect match for the 600s.

Ah...had to bring the Ah! Njoe Tjoeb back, it was just better than the DacMagic and Apple AE. Sold the AV123 and when I got the VSA 150 surrounds moved the VR-1s back into this room. It is now like it was before. I should learn not to mess with a good thing!

Slight change. Moved the Ah! Njoe Tjoeb to the main system along with the VR-1s (as surround speakers). Brought the Oppo 980 in feeding the Dac Magic. The AV123 EL T525M monitors are in the bookshelves with the port stuffed. Crossover to the REL is at 80 Hz. Unbelievable sound from the monitor/REL combination. Clear highs, sweet midrange, full bottom without muddiness. Now the monitors cost $150 and are a steal for a small room with a small REL sub. AV123 has small subs on sale for $180 making the combo cost $330. A great deal for a small room. THe VR-1s are now surrounds speakers in the main system making the entire speaker set Von Schweikert (VR-4JR + LCR Center + VR-1s).

System edited: I have added the CA DAC Magic for conversion of the 16/44 optical signal from the Airport Express to the Creek. It is a very noticable and enjoyable change. Now I can stream excellent sounding music to the library. It is not quite as good as the Njoe Tjoeb CDP, however, I can control the music from my chair, streamed from the main system downstairs. Life is good!

There is a local cabinet maker/furniture maker who took the measurements and custom made them. My wife let me put the speakers and electronics into "her" room. The wood of the VR-1s matches fairly well. When she is out of the house for a while, I can pull the speakers out from the bookshelves, but they do sound great where they are. Thanks for asking.

Very nice. Who made the bookshelves?
