Description

This system is used for many hours every day. It is centered around the Marantz SR7200 and the Sony Widescreen TV. It is an ever-evolving entity, and I will attempt to post changes as they occur.

My next upgrade will be the DVD player. It will either be another Sony, or it will be a Marantz. I have several models of each in mind . . .

Components Toggle details

    • Marantz SR7200
    Primary "workhorse" of the system.
    • B&K Components ST-2140
    140watts @ 8 Ohms; 185watts @ 4 Ohms. This Amp powers the Front L & R Martin Logans (Mosaics).
    • Marantz MA-500
    Center Channel Amp. 125watts @ 8 Ohms; 180watts @ 4 Ohms.
    • Carver PM-175
    Two-channel High-Current Magnetic Field Power Amp. 175watts @ 8 Ohms; 250watts @ 4 Ohms. This Amp is for the Rear Surrounds.
    • Martin Logan Mosaic
    Front L & R Channel. Three-Way Hybrid ATP (Tweeter and Midrange) with 8" Aluminum Woofer.
    • Martin Logan Fresco
    Center Channel. Three-Way Hybrid ATP (Tweeter and Midrange) with Two 4" Aluminum Woofers.
    • Sapphire Audio SBL
    Surround Speakers (pair). These great little speakers have 6" aluminum woofers. This allows them to blend well with the MLs.
    • System Audio SA510AV
    Rear Center Channel. This little speaker produces amazing sound. I was using it as my Center Channel speaker before I got my ML Fresco.
    • Infinity PS-10
    10" Woofer driven by 250watts.
    • Velodyne VRP10
    Used for LFE only.
    • Harman Kardon FL 8385
    5-Disc Changer with HDCD (Burr-Brown PCM1732).
    • Marantz DV6500
    This SACD/DVD player was purchased from a fellow A'goNer and it far exceeded any expectations I may have had. Truly an audiophile's bargain !
    • Sony KV-34HS420
    FD Trinitron Wega, 34" Widescreen.
    • Black Rhodium S300
    2c 19 x 0.45mm Silver Plated Copper insulated and sheathed in Silicone Rubber (for Front Speakers - ML Mosaics).
    • Nordost Blue Heaven
    I am using these between my Marantz SR7200 (pre-out) and my B&K ST2140 (which powers my Martin Logan Mosaics).
    • Supra EFF-I
    Cable runs from CD to Marantz SR7200.

System edited: I am presently attempting to acquire a new B&K Amp (the ST1430). When I do, I will post updated pictures to go along with all the changes I've made since the beginning.

System edited: After several discussions with friends over the position of the B & K in my system, I relented. It now powers my Front two Channels, the Martin Logan Mosaics. After I've had a chance to listen to this configuration I will post my impressions in this thread. Everyone, feel free to comment on my meager system ! Neshamah (Steven)
