Description

I've put together what I feel is an incredibly good sounding system at an even more incredibly low price-tag.

    • Pioneer Elite PD-65
A timeless classic player with the heralded stable platter transport system. I picked it up for $100 on Craigslist.
    • Pioneer Elite DV-58AV
    An excellent stand-alone CD/SACD player. I picked it up new-in-box for $175.
    • Pioneer Elite DV-37
A very special player that was extensively modded by digital-guru Stephen Sank. Everything was torn out and replaced with the best parts... no mods were left out. Picked it up for $250.
    • Xindak DAC-5
Very versatile tube DAC I team-up with the PD-65. Allows user to choose tube or solid-state operation and 24/96 or 24/192 sampling. I picked it up for $399.
    • Dared VP-845
This is the newer model with 35-watts of S.E.T. power. A beast of an amplifier at 80 pounds. Bidders on Ebay fell asleep, so I was able to pick up the 4-month old amp for $470.00.
    • Odeon Rigoletto
These aren't the $8k Odeon Rigolettos. They are Einstein Rigoletto, which were manufactured by Odeon for Einstein and Imported into the US By Lauermann Audio Imports. I have modded the cabs and drivers in a few ways. I had modded the stock Fostex FE164 by applying plumber's putty on the baskets, Mod-Podging the cones, and adding vacuum tube phase plugs. I removed those drivers recently and replaced them with the newer Fostex FE166En. Only one simple mod on those... I covered the baskets with Dynamat. Doubtful on any future mods, as I am satisfied with the way they sound.
    • Aural Thrills Self-Powered Active Cable.
The signal lines are connected to the shield by a pair of specifically manufactured resistors. What is created is a pseudo balanced interconnect, as the shield is effectively neutral relative to both conductors. Relative to the equipment ground, the shield sees half the signal voltage swing.
    • MAC - My Audio Cables Silver Braided Sound Pipes
Braid of three strands of teflon-insulated pure silver wire.
    • Audioquest Type 4
Type 4 cables feature four solid, long-grain copper conductors to ensure highly efficient signal transfer with minimal loss. Solid conductors eliminate electrical and magnetic interference that can add brittleness to the sound with multi-strand conductor cables.
    • Audioquest VDM-X digital rca
Used between the PD-65 and the DAC-5. The cable features a solid 24-gauge copper center conductor with silver plating to improve high frequency performance. Foil wrap around the insulation and an additional layer of silver-plated braid shield the cable from external electronic interference that can degrade the signal.
