Hi Jmlab926, What did you replace the Monarchy with?

the monarchy amps are sold

Owner
hi the mg12 is good so as 1.6

100w could be enough it depends on how loud you listen to

Norman,

I think I might mean Maggie 12's not 1.2, whichever one is smaller than the 1.6's, which would be my first choice.

mjcmt

Norman,

I thought the Maggie 1.6QR would be nice, But I may have to get the 1.2 if my wife thinks the 1.6 are to large for your living room. I'm sensative to her desires, but she is very understanding.

How many watts would work Norman for these Maggies?

Bryston, now that is an interesting thought. I've considered Plinius, but wanted a full funtion remote and settled on YBA for the present time. Bryston is a very good suggestion.

Owner
which mg would you like to buy
bryston is a good choice cause your room is large

The truth is that I listen to mostly jazz, blues, and world music, with an occasional classic rock.

This YBA amp has amazine detail, tempo, and tonality. It is stunning with all music styles, not just classical. Classical and anything with complex musical comppostion does not get confussed and blurred with the YBA. It is able to deliniate between many instruments, voices, spacing, and room enviornments.

I was thinking of the Krell only for the extra power and drive for possible Maggie speakers. I've heard they need a lot of power to sound best. I think my 100w/ch YBA may be adaquite at moderate volumes, but I'm not sure. It might be worth the gamble.

Any comments from anyone with experience driving Maggies w/ only 100 refined watts/channel.

Owner
it works with the cd 120 linear
but if you listen to a lot of classical music
i guess your amp is better

jmlab926

Funny, I was thinking of getting the Krell 300i. What do you think of it, and did it not work with the Linear cdp?

mjcmt

Owner
hi you are right
i use the dac 1 cause i want to get rid of the Krell 300i
//really good bass

so i add less than $200 to try out the brand new dac 1
i do not have a preamp now and am going to sell the dac 1
after getting a used plc

I see your using a Benchmark DAC with your Consonance Linear cdp. That defeats the purpose of the Linear's benefits, unless its sound didn't work for you.

The magic of the Linear is that the music flows from the soundstage and it is not forced upon you. It works so well because of the use of 16 bit NOS DAC's, no brickwall digital filter, and no Op-amps in the analogue stage.
