Description

Worked very hard on the setup. Use RTA (RAL) to tune. Used room treatments for all first order reflections including the ceiling. Use DSP for a little node correction. Flat to 32hz. Imaging excellent - would be better if the room was wider. Have never heard a system in the same price range that sounded better.

hmmmm

I tried the toe in change and like them where they are. I think the picture exaggerates the angle. I can see all of the inside edges from the my seat. The speakers are not fired right at me. They are a little over 2 ft from the side wall. Unfortunetly the room is only a little over 12ft wide. I could pull them closer but them I lose width. The imaging and soundstage are good because I kill the first reflection points. If this room were 5ft wider it would be perfect (very few modes compared to standard rooms due to the shape)

Why not pull speakers farther from the side wall and not toe them in as much? That should yeild large improovements in sound. Maybe 1 foot each...may be worth trying.

"I have this thing for not having anything in between the speakers or behind them. Helps with visualizing the image"

I totally agree. I think this has a huge effect as our ear-brain just can't see "thru a wall" behind a speaker.

I wish I could figure a way to prove how much the "audible sound" of a system is influenced by the wall vs how much the "perceived sound" of a system is influenced by the vision of the wall.

The Speakers are 8.5ft from me and have 10ft open space behind them. This works because of the front firing port. I have this thing for not having anything in between the speakers or behind them. Helps with visualizing the image. Equipment racks between the speakers cuase too much of a distraction. The system is very flat down to 35hz - with a little help from my RTA for placement and a little digital parametric DSP.

Looks very nice and comfortable. When i used a small dedicated room i had discovered that getting the speakers closer together actually widened the soundstage. Im not saying this could be the case with you as well but have you tried it? What is the distance of the speakers from the back wall?

Hey Mike, not bad, sure you could have a better roombut be thankful you have one! I spend more time wishing and dreaming of my own music room then I do over any new gear.
I bet it is alot of fun hearing tunes in your room.

It is hard to beat Triangle speakers. I had some Comete ES that I kind of regret selling but they didn't quite have the bass oomph that I like. I often wonder how a pair of Celius ESw would sound like compared to my 926s. I'd love to hear your system. Where do you live?
