Description

Have just rebuilt the digital system adding Baetis Prodigy X3 server/streamer with T+A DAC 8 DVD. Have added Analysis Plus Oval power chords on new and amp and conditioner as well. Have a Revolution USB cable for DAC to server as have SOtM USB connection. Yet to receive LPS upgrade and CAT7 InAkustic Ethernet cable. I have finally got some serious synergy between similar quality components and improved cabling and gotta say it was worth the splurge! So much more engaging than previous regardless of source.

So got the final piece from my spring order, a linear power supply for the Baetis X3, I also have made modifications to the wall between my bookshelves. I am streaming most of the time now so removed the CD shelf as I record the collection onto my server. Also wanted to improve on room acoustics.
I cant move my speakers out from the wall due to traffic patterns along that wall so needed a combined absorber diffuser panel to help bass low end clear up and also help staging increase. The TV may get a cover ultimately but have found dispersion really helpful and no boom from rear port reflections.
I designed and constructed the wall modeled on a Vicoustics slat wall, and some light reading of acoustic design books. I elected as a good architect to compromise the design to both address the acoustic issues and aesthetic concerns of a multifunctional room. The wall was horizontally strapped with 1.5 x 1.5 spruce on a 64 mm stud GWB partition in front of a 200mm cmu wall. The slat wall assembly was constructed with 1.5” rock wool in between and a black cotton material stapled to strapping, finished with cherry 1X2 slats spaced about .75” apart.
I made a deep bookshelf from cherry mounted to the slat wall below the TV.
Very happy with the results in general, I need to break in fully the new stuff but sound has climbed a few more rungs in all respects and I look forward to listening to a range of music in a more balanced engaging system!

So finally got the Baetis  Prodigy X3 server/streamer along with the DAC8 with new power cables from Analysis Plus and interconnects also Revolution Silver cryo USB cable…Only a few hours in listening but my system has come alive really big differences sound stage bass responses sense of detail…trouble is with so many changes at once hard to proportion what made the most significant differences although the Baetis is a primary improvement. Will see how the Chord Hugo 2 compares.

Beautiful setup. Equipment stands appears to defy gravity…

Some sweet D7.2 speakers for sure.  Just amazed how they have soared in price over the last 5 years or so.  A friend bought a new pair of 7's for $4,500 around 2018, given a nice dealer discount at the time.

Nonetheless, enjoy!

Thanks for your compliments, looks finished from the distance! I need to change the equipment cabinet, delete the very convenient sliding rack and make fixed shelves that allow for wider components and more stability. But will need to cut in an access panel for cabling access. Also want to treat the wall between the cabinets with an absorbing wood slat panels. The room is not bad acoustically given it’s a condo living/dining/kitchen so multiple surfaces to help with dispersion. Speakers are limited from being more than about 300mm from the wall as primary circulation route immediately in front, that limits the sound stage scale. Very happy with the speakers but like any you need to be mindful what you pair them with, accuphase amp has great synergy but also need good recordings as they are revealing by nature.

A stereo setup should be like this superb. I like Spendor sound a lot, have heard D7, the bass is so controlled. What u think Spendor sound?
