Reduced over 10%. Graham Excalibur - Rare Tonearm

I got this arm mounted on a Merrill turntable from the late 80's, and it's worthy of the table. It was sold by Natural Sound of Framingham, which helped Graham get started, by selling his brand built arms and giving him feedback. It's a gold and black beauty, with a black arm and it sounds superb, as it should with the pedigree. It is coming with a mounted Benz Mirco reference cartridge installed. The cartidge itself was a highly rated Stereophile cartridge.

I'm rating this a 7 due to age.

This is a very rare tonearm - only 20 or so were ever made by Graham, before he started his company and made the Model 1.0 tonearm. The main difference between the 1.0 and the Excalibur apprears to be the VTA adjustment facility - on the Excalibur, its set by a screw on the base, while the 1.0 and newer models have a knob to adjust VTA. The 1.5, 2.0, and 2.2 are just evolutions on the basic engineering.

Like all the Graham tonearms, its a unipivot that adjustable in every plane..very intelligently done, I'm amazed others are not doing it this way. Note the outriggers for azimuth adjustment, and for anti skating. The knob on the top protects the bearing, which is damped with thick fluid, probably silicone. It has an SME armbase, so it can be used to upgrade a myraid of turntables. The armwand is removable, for easy cartridge installation. The armlift works smoothly and precisely, though the armlift does have an issue with the attachment between the lift post and the arm itself. It is a press fit. Though it does still function well.

The table itself is in good working condition. I believe it is probably an Heirloom. and the Benz Ref, is still in good condition. I estimate that it has 75 - 100 hours on it. It was professionally set up by Clark Johnson of the Absolute Sound. It will come with a set of 1m pair silver core interconnects and an old Dual cover which functions. I may still have the gold arm that it came with and I should have the box for the cartridge, though I cannot guarantee that I brought these items with me when I moved.
