Leopold Stokowski: Icon The Maverick Conductor EMI

Many "seasoned" audiophiles will well remember Capitol's brilliant early stereo LP's with Stokowski directing various orchestras. While perhaps not definitive readings, his PLANETS, CARMINA BURANA and SHOSTAKOVICH 11th were all pretty much first at the gate. They, along with much else, are all here in superb remastering's in this 10 CD collection. Also included is material recorded for the ill-fated United Artists with Symphony of the Air. The Shostakovich First, Khachaturian Second and a superb Bloch Schelomo are all here as well. This set, now out of print is a real treasure trove.
