For sale - world class omni-directional speakers in very good condition. Both DD drivers replaced in 2019. Purchased speakers from the founder of Axpona in 2016. Local pickup preferred. Can ship in the continental US shrink wrapped on pallet in original boxes.
Questions for the seller |
---|
Can you provide more pictures. Are the jumpers provided. Original packing. Why are you selling. Missed your question. I have the jumpers and original boxes. I am selling because my wife and I are downsizing after my last kid graduates high school. IMO, speakers sound best if speakers are set up 4 ft from side and front walls. If still interested, I can provide more pictures.

Are you using the open baffle subs with these ? Are they necessary ? No they are not. Each GP speaker has a 12" downward firing bass driver. For 2 channel music sound quality is slightly better (higher resolution) without open baffle bass units. I used the open baffle subs primarily for home theater. |
Hi,
Why did the drivers need to be replaced? Is it a normal requirement after every few years of use?
Thanks The DD drivers are extremely robust, especially the newer carbon version, and should last a lifetime of use. There are many people who are still using the original titanium (less robust) DD drivers in GP speakers manufactured in the 1990s with no problems. The DD drivers for these speakers use the more durable carbon variant.
Unfortunately, during a dinner party in my home two young girls went into my listening room and one of them pulled out the voice coil wire of one of the drivers. I initially replaced only the damaged DDD. I could not tell the difference when listening to music with the newer and original DDD, but a couple months later I replaced the undamaged driver as well. I did so because there was a slight difference (1.5 dB) in output level between the new DDD and the original DDD when measuring a test signal on REW. The output level of the two new DDD drivers now measure the same.
After this experience I made a set of protective covers that I slide over the speakers when I am not around. These are included with the speakers.
