Acoustic Zen Adagio Loudspeakers

Up for grabs is a spectacular pair of Acoustic Zen Adagio Full Range Floorstanding Loudspeakers. These gems, in a gorgeous "Black Pearl" finish (more of a dark grey) combine above-average efficiency with tremendously wide and deep soundstaging to provide a wonderful listening experience. The mids are to die for, and the transmission line bass is powerful yet controlled, while the ribbon tweeters have extremely low distortion and are crystal clear without drawing attention to themselves.

I am the 2nd owner - the first had them only a few months before moving up the AZ line to the Crescendos (to my benefit). They are in excellent condition - try as I may, I could not find any flaws in the beautiful finish, and certainly not in operation. I have rated 8/10 to be conservative. These are beautiful - the pictures do not do the finish justice, and it is not as bold or brash as some of their other finishes. (FWIW my wife likes these - they blend in/disappear in the room very well).

I have run these with tubes and SS - low power and high - they are fabulous either way, and easy to drive. This pair comes with the latest Acoustic Zen addition to the design - the tweeter baffles (see pics). Positioned on either side of the ribbon tweets, they enhance high end dispersion and widen the soundstage. Also included are the black bases (which help stabilize the speakers) and the original A-Zen spikes, as well as the grills (which I never used).
