Mini Dragon System

The Dragonfire Acoustics Mini Dragon Speaker System is a technological breakthrough in full-range stereo nearfield monitoring. These DSP-calibrated planar magnetic speakers deliver a lucid, dynamic, full-range sound with subwoofer.

The Mini Dragons’ planar magnetic drivers are ultra-efficient and require only a few watts to reach normal listening levels. As a purely resistive load, the Mini Dragons perform flawlessly with MD-4 amplifier.

Housed in adjustable, collapsible, aircraft-grade anodized aluminum frames, the Mini Dragon planar magnetic speakers breathe life into music with astounding accuracy and vivid imaging at any listening level. 

Sound emanating from a conventional point source propagates outwards in all directions, diffracting and reflecting off the speaker cabinets and adjacent acoustic surfaces, causing additive peaks and subtractive nulls of interference. These reflections introduce uneven frequency response, raise the noise floor, and limit dynamic range.

By contrast, sound emanating from a dipole planar magnetic source coherently propagates along the axis of the originating plane – like a laser beam or LED panel – while simultaneously canceling the 180 degrees out-of-phase backwave and eliminating enclosure reflections.

The resulting nearfield full-range sound (200-to-40,000Hz) is effortlessly delivered to the sweet spot with shockingly lifelike imaging and immersive soundstaging. Free of room artifacts, the Mini Dragons engage and draw the listener deep into the music. 

The planar magnetic drivers are exceptionally efficient, requiring only a few watts of power from a high-end amplifier to reach comfortable listening levels.

Built into a matching anodized aluminum enclosure, the Dragonfire Acoustics MD-4 is a hand-crafted class-D DAC/AMP/DSP system controller featuring audiophile-grade AD/DA conversion through its balanced XLR, SPDIF, and USB inputs.

An advanced DSP engine for speaker calibration offers a total of 120 parametric filters for equalization with crossovers, delays, phase correction, compression, and limiting.

The MD-4 amplifier delivers 250 watts RMS, 1kW peak per channel of full-spectrum power from 1-to-100kHz, and when combined with the drivers’ 100dB/W efficiency accurately and precisely reproduces music at any comfortable listening level.

Free of high-frequency damping networks, the MD-4 amplifier maintains an extremely high-voltage rail-to-RMS-power-rating-ratio at over 93% efficiency.  This ensures minimal cooling requirements and maximum long-term reliability.

For improved imaging and to meet the current draw demands of even the most dynamically challenging content, the MD-4 includes two supplementary dual high-capacitance power reserves.

The Dragonfire MD-4 features an industry-leading 119dB signal-to-noise ratio, +26dB of available gain, and below 0.005% total harmonic distortion.

The Power Factor Correction Power Supply ensures universally-adaptable and fully-regulated AC mains operation anywhere in the world.
